Sarah was raised in Burlington by her father who is a car salesman, and her mother who is a professor at a local high school.
Sarah has an older sister named Jen Blackwood — also known as Hellcat — who is a musician and who motivated Sarah to launch her career as a singer as well, and a brother named Ian Blackwood, who is a musician as well but who moved out of the house at an early age, and is not very close with his family.
Sarah was bullied while attending elementary and high school, and so she became an advocate for anti-bullying initiatives, and for improving mental health services. She suffered from mild depression and anxiety during her teenage years and with the help of music eventually recovered.
In at the age of 27, Sarah joined the Canadian psychobilly band called The Creepshow, after her sister who was singing in the band became pregnant and had to take time off. She left the band in after the Walk Off the Earth band of which she was already a member became popular worldwide. Walk of the Earth band was formed in , and are mostly known for their cover songs, music videos, and a couple of their original songs.
Sarah met Gianni Luminati when she joined the Walk Off the Earth band as he was already a member, and referred to as one of the most important members of the band. The two began dating not long after Sarah joined, and they have been together for years now — she gave birth to their first son Giorgio Luminati in , while Luigi Colombo Luminati followed on 25 July Gianni and Sarah are not married and are living together with their sons in Burlington, Ontario.
Sarah is a huge fan of outdoor activities such as running, cycling, or simply walking around the city, she enjoys spending her free time in nature, and practices yoga and meditates on a daily basis. Sarah is a philanthropist since she first started playing in a band, but became more interested in doing charity work after one of her not-so-close friends committed suicide.
She occasionally performs at elementary schools, advising children not to bully one another but to rather protect each other. Sarah is 39 years old. The album has some undeniably great tracks, but I found it hard to appreciate them amidst the confusion. Here's the bottom line: although Sarah Blackwood has an astounding vocal capacity, her solo career is premature.
